I'll Take Your Picture

Pierre Portelette 1890-1971 used his pseudonym 'Pierda" exclusively for his photography work.
"I'll take your picture" was published with permission by the original French publisher and features a short text explanation by Portelette on why he creates photography for children. (because they seem to prefer it to pictorial illustration). Each set of opposing leaves features a charming photograph of a child or toys and a simple story to match each photograph. The text pages are surrounded with a decorative border in bright green, red, yellow or blue.
I believe that some of the photographs such as the cover photo of a little girl taking a picture of her dolls are the same used in a previous 1934 publication in which Pierda photographed his children, Micheline and Dominique. I can find only two listings in OCLC in the Special Collections of the University of Akron and Princeton University. Good. Metal spiral is misshapen but still functions to hold the pages together. On the front cover there is separation from the spiral 2.5" up from the bottom with the same to the first page. Corners are bumped and creased on front and back cover with light edge wear on all edges. Some light soiling to the back cover near the binding. Wonderfully bright on the pages with a few insignificant marks that do not affect the text or the photographs. Light soiling overall. Item #614
