Sorcar, Father of Modern Indian Magic

Protul Chandra Sorcar (23 February 1913 – 6 January 1971) was a famous Indian magician born in a small village in Bengal (now Bangladesh) and was internationally active throughout the 1950s and 1960s performing his Indrajal show before live audiences and on television.
During his lifetime, he had the ability of powerful showmanship and masterful skill in stage illusions. Sorcar was also known for his amazing stage sets and other costumes, especially his “Maharaja robe” and plumed turban.
Here is a beautiful collection of ephemera from performances including a rare Gate Pass from a show in Calcutta and programs with lavish illustrations of the set pieces including his famous 'floating lady'
